The architecture of Hammond’s Ferry is inspired by what is already found in the rich historic neighborhoods of North Augusta and Augusta, communities blessed with fine old homes and a varied range of styles.

The design of the homes and civic structures is guided by the Hammond’s Ferry Pattern Book, a set of basic design instructions for homeowners and Builder’s  Guild members.  The Pattern Book is intended to provide assistance in achieving personal home designs that reflect their character while remaining true to the historic patterns of the region. It is also the basis of the Hammond’s Ferry Riverfront Code. The book illustrates key style components, such as the shapes of windows and doors, roof pitches, eave details, and types of porches, creating a cohesive neighborhood identity.

While homes within Hammond’s Ferry offer different arrangements and sizes to suit varied tastes, there is a consistent design attitude that responds to the needs of a contemporary lifestyle. Plans range from small to large, one-story or two-story, and open floor plans or traditional. The variety of the homes reflects the range of personalities who will live here.
